The Evil Cabal

There comes a day in everyone's life where we realize that we no longer want to be alone in the world. Some might find a significant other to fulfill the wish of not being alone, while other immerse themselves in hobbies of their liking.

I have chosen to partake in an Evil Cabal, just for the fun of it. I, along with my cohorts, have decided to take this world by the Bulls Balls and make a difference. :)

We have plotted, and continue to plot against the injustices of this world; against people who wish to misdirect you, deceive you, lie to you, make you believe in something that isn't true...etc etc.

We hold regular POW WOWS on a weekly basis, some of you might know this as "Nocturnal Frequency Radio". We disseminate all the crap that is out there, swirl it around a bit, and spit it out as something that is more akin to reality.

But, enough of the free advertising. Let's get down to business. So, about this Evil Cabal that I, along with my Co-host Steve Genier, belong to. We are a part of a group that is against, or is trying to thwart a certain Bishop (yeah right) in the UK. HMMMM, funny, I never received my initiation papers in the mail. What's also funny is that this so called Evil Cabal was yet another creation of this deranged maniac...I mean bishop.

To be honest, I would be honored to belong to such a Cabal, wouldn't you? I mean we are trying to ruin this phony bishops plans. In essence, we are trying to rid this world of the lies, deceits, and down right falsehoods propagated by someone who falsely claims to be a Bishop. That in itself is worth taking a risk and joining a NON EXISTENT "EVIL CABAL" right?

Ah well, I always wanted to be a part of something, and now I am, apparently...without even knowing it...this is confusing. In any case, if I move up the ranks of this "Evil Cabal" that doesn't exist, I'll let you know. But for now, I have to say arrivederci, and also see you soon.

Feb Issue of Phantom Magazine

Hi everyone,

This Feb 1st, there are going to be eight new articles. Chris Holly has
joined the Phantom contribution list, she writes for multiple sites and now has
contributed to Phantom Magazine with "The Era of 2012".

Justin Villarreal of Lake County Ghost Hunters has also contributed an
article recounting his first paranormal experience, "My First Experience into
Paranormal Clams". Justin has been on Phantom Podcast a couple of times, and
also has his own Blog Talk Radio show http://www.blogtalkradio.com/lcgh.

Also, among other articles, the feature article in Feb will be by author
and paranormal investigator, Richard Palmisano, "The Memory Matrix - part 1"

Lastly, Feb Phantom Podcast will be an interesting one. It is
approximately one and a half hours long and features Justin Villarreal from LCHG
and Dak Hoffman from Shoki Midwest Paranormal Sciences. Justin and Dak discuss
some of the important issues that are prevalent in the paranormal community.
Don't miss this one.

And just as a reminder, Phantom Magazine is now free...anyone can read it

Changes to Phantom Magazine

Changes at Phantom Magazine

Since the inception of Phantom Magazine in June 2008, my goal has always been to provide articles that make the reader think outside the norm. Many of the articles I have written, and will continue to write, have always been of a philosophical nature and have asked question that I feel aren't asked enough in the Paranormal field. Initially, and up until now, in order for people to read the articles, a subscription had to be paid. This was done in the hopes of recovering the costs of setting up the website, both front end and back end. Since I run this magazine on my own, I incurred all the costs myself.

Now, after a year and a half, I have decided to make some big changes. The main important change is that Phantom Magazine will now be a free magazine for everyone to enjoy. All one needs to do in order to be able to read the magazine is to register a user name. Making this decision was a bit difficult for me to initially because my goal was also to be able to work on this full time, which would mean that I would need income, this was another reason why I charged a subscription cost. However, I feel that it is more important that as many people as possible are able to read the articles here at Phantom Magazine, and the only way to do that, it to make the magazine free. So, starting January 1st, 2010, anyone who already has a registered user name at www.phantomezine.com will have access to the articles free of charge. For those of you who have not registered yet, it takes only a few minutes and is absolutely free.

Another change that I have implemented is to do away with the categories in the magazine itself. All the articles will be displayed under the magazine section without the different categories. This is a move that will help people be less confused about where all the articles are.

I will continue to do my best to provide new articles on a monthly basis, whether they be my articles, or articles submitted by others. I will also continue to provide a monthly podcast where I will either interview someone within the field, or I will talk about any particular topic in the field.

As always, submission are always welcome, and you may do so by emailing me at submissions@phantomezine.com.

With all of that being said, I hope that 2010 is a year of new beginnings, a year filled with intrigue and happiness. To everyone who has helped me and supported me from the beginning, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, if it weren't for your love and support, I don't think I could have made it this far.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Steve Genier for asking me to be his co-host and I look forward to being a part of the the show. Bashing the Enemy

As I listen to one of my favorite podcasts, I can’t help but feel ill when all I hear from guests, and sometimes the hosts, is bashing of other people. Although I agree that not all the people that are involved in this field are in it for humanitarian reasons, there is also no reason why anyone should be bashing someone else.

The paranormal field, along with the UFO field, seem like they have become an industry onto themselves. People vying for supremacy and offering advice when a lot of the times it’s not asked for. Let’s take a step back and really look at what we are doing here. Are we here to find out what the paranormal is? Or are we here to make some money? I know, I know, “There’s no money to be made in the paranormal…” That’s what I keep hearing, but I don’t buy it. Books, merchandise, conferences, TV series; all of that doesn’t make money? I’m not suggesting by any means that one can become rich in this field, but there is the potential to make a decent living in it as well. Are you going to tell me that Grant and Jason from Ghost Hunters International don’t make a decent living?

Well, whatever the case may be, I think that if we are to get anywhere in this field, or the UFO field, we need to stop the bickering and bashing. It has gotten us nowhere and will get us nowhere. It almost feels like I’m back in grade of high school. Well, that’s my two cents.

The Paranormal and a State of Mind

I've often wondered, as many do, whether the paranormal is objective or strictly subjective. I know that there are many paranormal groups who have captured some compelling evidence to suggest that the paranormal is objective, but what if that evidence was caused by us subconsciously as many skeptics suggest. I know, why am I thinking about this right? Well, the reason why I sometimes question myself and all of this is because of personal experiences that I have had with certain people I know that puts to question the validity of objective paranormal activity.
Someone who is close to me, but will remain anonymous, has gone, and is going through what he thinks is psychic warfare. Because I am not psychic myself, there is no way I can validate this for either him, or myself. So where does this leave me? Well, it's left me somewhat confused. Do I take his word for it completely? Even though he's gone so far as to accuse a family member of being a part of it? Or, should I consider this person unstable? There are times when he is a joy to be around, when he's in a good mood, and then there a times when I can't stand being around him because I get a bad vibe.
If what he says is completely true, then I cannot blame him for feeling the way he does. Most of us, if not all of us, would probably behave similarly. But what gets to me is that he once told me, when I first started showing interest in the Occult many years ago, to stay away from it, that it was bad news. Now, he's the one who's gotten more heavily involved in the Occult and is claiming that he is being attacked psychically. I do know, because I've met a lot of people throughout my life that are involved in the Occult to one extent or another, that it is no different than being a religious zealot. Once you wholeheartedly believe in Occult powers and all mystical paths, it starts to consume you just as if you were to be extremely religious. A friend of mine told me that it was Carl Jung who suggested that if anyone is to get involved in the Occult, to first have yourself evaluated psychologically to see whether you are mentally stable enough.
Another interesting thing that I have noticed among people who study the Occult, or claim to have paranormal abilities is that a lot of them have big Egos. They'll never admit to it of course, but it's true of a lot of cases that I have come across. A perfect example of this is when one person states that his/her way is better than anyone else's. Having belonged to a “mystical” society, I can vouch that this is the case. Also, a very good friend of mine also belonged to a magical society, and the one reason he left was because of all the big egos. Neither my friend, or myself, can quite understand this. On the one hand, you have mystical and magical groups who's one important aim is to overcome ego, and on the other hand, these organizations are being run by people who have the biggest egos.
So, you might be asking yourself at this point, what does this have to do with the paranormal? Well, because the paranormal is highly subjective, a person's ego has a big role in it. If someone wholeheartedly believes that they can speak to angels, then to them, whatever they hear from these angels is right, and everyone else is wrong. Mind you, not all people behave this way, but the ones who have big egos do. This, in part, is one reason why there is a lot of infighting among paranormal groups. What we all have to try to understand is that the paranormal, and I know I sound like a broken record, is subjective, and that we could be wrong. The same applies to paranormal activity such as psychic attacks, we don't know for certain that it is an external force at play here, we're just assuming. We assume this partly because of the books that we've read, and partly because a lot of us cannot deal with the fact that it might all be in our minds. Which would of course mean that we have a mental instability because we “think” we can see, feel, hear, touch, smell, and taste things that others can't. An interesting point I want to make is this; in some cases of Epilepsy, people have smelled burnt toast prior to a seizure. Obviously, they are the only ones who have smelt the burnt toast. Does this mean that they are sensitive? Of course not, Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder and involves episodic abnormal electrical activity in the brain.1 To quote something else from Wikipedia:
In April 2003, the BBC TV science programme Horizon featured discussion of research by American neurologist Gregory Holmes indicating that Ellen G. White, spiritual founder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, may have suffered from temporal lobe epilepsy as a result of brain damage due to an accident suffered at age nine – the epilepsy supposedly being responsible for her powerful religious experiences. Temporal lobe epilepsy is known to be associated with such experiences.2
Well, this once again raises a whole bunch of questions about the paranormal and our ability to experience it. Is it due to some form of brain damage, which in turn allows us to experience the paranormal? Or did the damage cause certain people to think they are experiencing paranormal activity? Maybe a third explanation would be that the damage caused the brain to perceive things that most don't. In other words, the damage removed the in house filters that we all probably have so that we may cope with life a little easier. I can't answer these questions definitively, and I don't think anyone else can either. I guess the important thing to remember is that whatever we are able to perceive, we have to understand that there might be a possibility that it is all in our heads. There's a reason why there are words like 'normal' and 'paranormal', and that's because the majority of the people perceive things a certain way. Anyone who perceives differently is not 'normal', and I'm not suggesting that's a bad thing. We have try to come to terms with the possibility that the paranormal and other similar things are just a figment of our imagination, because that way, if nothing else, it'll quell our egos.

August is finally here and that means Paracon 2009 has finally arrived. The event is taking place August 5, 6, and 7 in Sarnia, Ontario and promises to be a spectacular event. There will be numerous speakers such as Robbie Thomas whose hosting the event, Steve Genier from S.O.P.S. And host of Nocturnal Frequency Radio, Bill Bean, and many more. Greetings all,

I am going to keep this short and sweet. There is a new sub-category in the ‘Case File’ section called ‘Investigations.’ This is where any paranormal group who is interested can have their case file published. In the July issue, there has been a submission from April Abercrombie from the Denver Paranormal Research Society from an investigation they have conducted. Anyone out there who belongs to a paranormal group is welcome to submit their case files if all the members of that group agree. If you are interested, please e-mail me at submissions@phantomezine.com.

Another thing I wanted to mention before I forget. If anyone has any suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Aside from that, there isn’t too much to report this month. Abandoned Farmhouse Investigation

On May 17th, 2009, The Shadows Project (www.theshadowsproject.com), Steve Genier (www.sopsinvestigations.com), and myself conducted an investigation at an abandoned farmhouse near Hamilton. The Shadows Project had invited bother Steve and I to attend as neither of us had ever been to this location. I have to admit that the place definitely had an aura about it, and when we played the Ouija board near the end of the investigation, it definitely seemed as though there was contact.

The Shadows Project, headed by Naz, also produces an excellent podcast, and this time it was no different. Hallucinogenic Drugs and Paranormal Experiences

The question of how humans experience paranormal activity has been a
topic of debate among the people of paranormal and occult fields for
quite some time now. No one really knows how an individual can
experience ghost sighting for example, or be able to hear voices that
no one else hears. Skeptics will have you believe that people who
experience such phenomenon are either “insane” or are
just making it up to get their 15 minutes of fame. Though I will
admit that there are individuals out there who would fall under the
above stated categories, I also believe that there much more to these
phenomenons than meet the eye. How can there be so many reports
worldwide of paranormal phenomenon, that both vary and are similar,
which are untrue?

Since I have immersed myself in the field of paranormal study, I have come
across some curious individuals throughout my journey. From people
who claim to be able to see and speak to the dead, to people who can
sense energies that are all around us. The logical question now
would be, how could these people be proven? Well, that is not an
easy task. With respect to people who claim that they can speak to
the dead, there is one easy way to test them, unless the person in
question knows a lot about you. All that needs to be done is to ask
that person to speak to someone you know has past on, like a
relative, and ask them to describe the relative and ask them
questions that only family members would know the answer to. Make
sure that the answers are not open-ended and need your input, they
have to be specific answers otherwise you might be a victim of a
fraudulent individual. There have been experiences that I have had
with these individuals that I won’t get into in this article;
I’ll save that for future articles.

Getting back to the topic at hand, one more question has recently come up
amongst some in this field including myself. Can hallucinogenic
drugs induce paranormal experiences? I’m sure a lot of people
are aware of what magic mushrooms or LSD can do? Now, let’s
suppose that the experiences that people have while under the
influence of these drugs aren’t hallucinations, that they are
actually tapping into the unknown. If this sounds too far fetched,
it shouldn’t.

Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) is a chemical that is believed to be created in small amounts
by the Pineal Gland and other tissues in the human body. It is
hypothesized that endogenous DMT is involved in certain psychological
and neurological states and is believed that it plays a role in
promoting the visual effects of natural dreaming, near-death
experiences and other mystical states. ⁽¹⁾ DMT also occurs naturally in many species of
plants and have been used in many South American Shamanic practices.

⁽²⁾Rene Descartes called the Pineal Gland the
“Seat of the Soul” implying that when a person is about
to die, the Pineal Gland enlarges and releases the soul.

Dr. Rick Strassman has conducted studies using DMT and other hallucinogenic
drugs at the University of New Mexico’s School of Medicine. He
has administered approximately 400 doses of DMT to 60 human
volunteers. He speculates that DMT and other hallucinogenic drugs
are responsible for humans being able to perceive these paranormal
experiences. ⁽³⁾If these studies are found to be correct, then it would lend credence to
the theory that everyone is born with the ability to be psychic, or
see the spirit of the dearly departed.

I believe that the human brain is much like a radio receiver. Like the radio
receiver, which has the capability of receiving both AM and FM
signals, our brain is designed to receive a myriad of signals.
However, the problem lies in my theory that our brains have been
programmed to only interpret the AM signal, as an example. Some
people seem to be able to interpret small snippets of the FM signal
and others seem not to be able to do that at all. What I believe DMT
and other hallucinogenic drugs are capable of doing is allowing the
human brain to interpret a wider variety of the spectrum of signals
that we already receive. This does not mean that one should go out
and buy drugs and test that theory simply because it is just a theory
and a belief. However, to further strengthen my theory, I have the
following to state.

Children are believed to be capable of perceiving more than adults, and
according to scientific studies, the Pineal gland is larger in
children than it is in adults and begins to shrink at around the
puberty stage. Now maybe you might think twice when you hear of a
child’s imaginary friend. Of course this doesn’t mean
that every child experiences the paranormal and that every child who
claims to have an imaginary friend is legitimate. But it will no
doubt make you think twice. When I was a child, I experienced
nothing of the paranormal that I can remember, so be careful and
don’t make any assumptions.

Another interesting aspect of the Pineal Gland is that it is light sensitive.
This means that the gland increases in size when there is less
light. Ever wonder why most paranormal and UFO experiences happen
after the sun sets? And even more peculiar, in remote areas where
there is little to no man made light? Of course, as with everything
else in this world, there are always exceptions to every rule, and in
this case the exceptions would tend to fit nicely with those people
who claim to have the ability to see and speak to the dead. Maybe
their Pineal Gland is larger then most people and secretes more DMT
into the blood stream causing them to see spirits on a normal basis.

Then there is also the possibility that there are multiple layers of existence
stacked one on top of the other within the same space. Are we then
seeing beings from these other realities as part of our paranormal
experiences? Maybe by having elevated levels of DMT in our
bloodstream attunes our brains vibration to a different frequency,
which allows us a sneak peak. This would then explain some
of the Alien beings that people have reported.

There are so many unanswered questions in this world and in this existence of
ours that to rule any of what I have stated would be preposterous.
When a person really sits down and thinks about this, how can
science, although it has progressed immensely, answer all of life’s
questions? There have been recent studies done by physicists that
are making them scratch their own head and making them question
earlier theories. I believe that we are now only beginning to
scratch the surface of the tip of the iceberg when it comes to figuring out what this
universe has hidden. The challenge is of course in figuring it all
out, and science alone can’t do it. A deep-rooted belief in
spirituality and a scientific mind, I think, would go much further in
discovering the hidden truths and mysteries of this universe.

As it was hundreds of years ago, when science and religion were one and the
same, life on this planet will regress back into that same mentality,
although this time we learn from our mistakes and include all the
people of the planet as opposed to keeping the majority of the people
uneducated. Could you imagine a bunch of scientist gathering around
in a circle and chanting before starting their daily grind? Is it
really impossible to believe that spirituality and science can be one
and the same? I don’t think it’s impossible. You don’t
need to an atheist to be a scientist, at least not the last time I
checked. I do believe that as a scientist one should have a certain
amount of skepticism, but one can be religious or spiritual and be
scientifically minded as well.

In conclusion, there have been many speculations made about
hallucinogenic drugs and “enlightened” states of mind.
Native Indians have been using this method for a long time in order
for them to achieve their vision quests. So, can hallucinogenic
drugs help an individual see other realms of reality, or does it just
cause the mind to manifest a make believe world while under the
influence? This is a tough question to answer because it is largely
based on belief. If you believe that you saw a different dimension
while under the influence, then in your mind you did. Was it
actually a different dimension or a figment of your imagination? Who
knows, you decide.
